Mortadella

Mortadella, 2007

Laminated photograph under plexiglass

85 x 67 cm

As the title indicates, Mortadella is a work made of recomposed flesh with a drawing of a human skull. The image of the skull has been laser-engraved onto the surface of a real slice of bologna several centimeters thick. Here a bone has been burnished into flesh with a permanent effect, and a slice of Italian deli has been preserved in a laminated photograph under plexiglass.
