Daily Bread, 2007
Plaster, pigments, resin
Approx 25 x 20 x 25 cm each
Partly inspired by the Roman sentiment of pacifism through bread and games, the accumulative work ponders our way of life through optical illusion by employing items of nourishment and sports – bread, eggplant, fruits, boxing gloves, soccer ball and football – that have been molded in silicone and reproduced in plaster comprised of pigmented bits. After being laid to sit on their own weight, the overall effect of the casts is remarkably similar to the deli meats waiting to be sliced for consumption. Daily bread and games for all and everyone’s happy.
