Ostrich leather

121 x 46 x 70 cm

Like the custom made leather boots for humans, Boots, in strict sense, is a pair of shoes made of ostrich skin – perhaps to run faster? Think Roadrunner, beep, beep. True to life, the legs are over a meter long and so little alterations have been made to the original material that the sculpture looks as though the body has been severed from the legs of the ostrich. The absence of the body adds another dimension and persists beyond the cartoonish notion of the legs as shoes for speed.
