Mind Maps

Mind Maps, 2011

Maggots, ink on paper

110 x 120 cm

“Drawn” by maggots that were first dipped in china ink then set loose within the boundaries imposed by the artist, the Mind Maps series is meant to evoke both complex neural patterns and the simplicity of a Rorschach test. The maggots, which are blind, leave black traces that create a false symmetry testing our optics and illusions and reinforcing the notion that we see what we want to see. The series is accompanied by a video which shows the documentation of the process.
