Appliances flattened

Variable dimensions

In this ongoing series, the artist plays the role of a taxidermist for the everyday household appliances – some on the verge of extinction with the advance of technology. For each electric appliance the plastic shell has been “skinned” like animal hide and flattened to be hung like a wall decoration. In the modern age, appliances are categorized as domestic like animals, and through this immortalizing and anthropomorphic process, without the content, the plastic “skin” becomes just a layer with no function, just a reminder.
